BCAA 8:1:1 Leucine+ contains the three branched-chain amino acids L-leucine (Ajinomoto Co.), L-isoleucine (Ajinomoto Co.), and L-valine (Ajinomoto Co.) in an 8:1:1 ratio respectively. They make up about a third of muscle mass and are classified as essential amino acids, not synthesized by the body, being necessary to ingest them through food.

During long-duration sports, there is an increase in the use of branched-chain amino acids by the muscle to obtain energy, reducing their concentration in the blood during effort. Consequently, there will be less glucose formation through branched-chain amino acids.

Branched-chain amino acid supplementation could reduce muscle damage associated with endurance exercise by increasing the availability of glucose through branched-chain amino acids and reducing fatigue due to lack of substrates which in turn leads to an increase in enzymes that mark muscle damage.
